Baby drowns - mom gets 10 years



WTF? Why was she given 10 years?

Yes, it was a really stupid thing to do, but losing your kid the worst possible thing that could happen to any parent.

How will putting her in prison help anyone? It's like going to jail for accidently cutting your penis and both your own legs off with a chainsaw because you were trying to jerk off. The crime itself is punishment enough.
 
I have mixed feelings on this. If it was a one time thing then people make mistakes and of course she probably wishes she could take it back. However, if this is something that she does all the time then she got what she deserves.

I mean I have left the room long enough to grab a diaper or towel or to grab the phone but darted right back into the bathroom. There are some parents that just plop their kids in the bathtub and think they will be fine. Obviously leaving a baby alone for any amount of time isn't safe.

So without knowing if it was a one time occurrence or something that happens all the time its hard to judge the punishment. I would be horrified if that happened to me so I'm sure the jail time isn't anything compared to the pain she is feeling of her loss.

Either way its a tragic.

Though not as bad as the couple in my area who put a ball of paper in their 27 day old baby girl's mouth to stop her crying. She was dead in ten minutes too.
 
Meh. Who leaves their one year old alone in the bath, especially for that period of time. It's not even like she was getting a towel or anything.

She got what she deserved, and justice was done the moment the doctor at the scene said "sorry maam, nothing else we can do."

She doesn't need any jailtime, lesson learned. Hopefully she won't breed again.

The fact that she is going to jail for this is proof positive that our penal system is looking for more profit.
 
I agree with -Joe- on this one. Who in their right mind leaves a 1 year old alone in a bathtub of water. Plus they can fall asleep pretty easy at that age.

How does the penal system profit? We, the taxpayers have to foot the bill to incarcerate this woman.

You have no idea how your country works and who it benefits, do you? How cute.

Yes, we pay for it, but it PROFITS private corporations in the security industry.

Corporations lobby the government and ultimately make all the laws. - That's the USA in a nutshell, and the prison system is one of hundreds of examples of this conflict of interests at work.

The stupid bitch didn't care enough about her 13 FUCKING MONTH OLD CHILD and left it sitting in a pool of water. I'm all about respecting women, but I'd punch that bitch in the face if you put her in front of me. She deserves at least 10 years in jail and not even that will emancipate her from her white-trashedness.

To those who support the 10 year sentence, what good do you suppose will come from it? As in what specific, quantifiable positive consequence will result from her jail sentence?
