Backlinks for Boring Site

I am launching a boring website about washing machines and dryers.

If I was doing something that got a lot of buzz, I could think of a few ways to generate links (commenting, writing opinionated articles, guest posts, etc.).

What creative methods can I use to get some backlinks to my boring ass site?

Really anything can get a buzz going if you are in the right frame of mind. You might need to hire someone to write stuff.

One funeral home made linkbait like "Top 10 things you did not know about death" and it went viral.
 
those are definitely much better boobiez

I'd try to make up some kind of humorous article, maybe about an animal getting stuck in a washing machine or why you shouldn't dry your silk undies on high heat etc.

Like the other dude said, you just need to be in the right frame of mind

Otherwise I'd give up on link bait ideas and just buy some link building
