Went to buy a Kodak after hearing good things and decent OEM ink replacement costs... Found out they may no longer be in the printer business due to bankruptcy.

I know nothing about printers, found some meh reviews, any recommendations?

I use it for office printing mostly, some photo printing around the holidays.

TIA

As a general rule the more expensive the printer the cheaper the ink. The cheap printers are basically given away and the company actually loses money on them. They make money by raping you on the ink charges.

This was true several years ago and I'd bet money it's still true. The easy way to check is to look at the printer you want then check the ink prices. Look at some of the more expensive ones first and you'll see what I'm talking about. You'll also want to check reviews to see how many sheets the average cartridge will print.

EDIT:

I forget the brand I use to buy, but it was actually cheaper to buy a brand new printer with ink in it than it was to buy the ink. So I'd give away the printer or sell for $15.

Get a workhorse color laser printer for work related stuff, preferably HP, Xerox or Canon (in about that order of preference). Take your photos to a professional printer to have them done. The results are superior and it's cheaper.
