I have used many forum scripts in the past (vBulletin, PHPbb, IP.Board, etc...). I just wanted to get your opinion on the best forum in terms of ease of use without much modification.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm going to be starting my software support forum for my site, and I just wanted something quick and easy.

Thanks.

I went ahead with vBulletin. The licenses aren't that bad, and should be payable with my income. Thank you all for your help.

Well there are many ways to look at it...

First, if you want a free forum script then it basically comes down to phpBB, SMF and bbPress. From these three I would suggest bbPress as a very clean and fast loading forum - no bloated code really. Made by Wordpress guys... Or if you need some heavier script with more features I would go with phpBB. SMF isn't a good choice imho.

Second, if you are looking for a real quality and spending few buck for it isn't a problem - then go for vBulletin - it's reliable, fast, secure an easy to customize. Moreover, it got a great and helpful support forums. I don't have any experience with IPB so I cannot judge it.

vbulletin is the best that i've ever used. however if you don't have any money to spend, phpbb3 is a really nice free one that i like as well.

vBulletin gets my vote. Have 2 forums, 1 running 1000 members and 1 running 350 members and it's pretty damn fast to setup.
