For SEO software purposes i recently switched from linux based OS to windows 7, in linux security is easily to manage but have no clue what the best program for windows is, my first thought is to buy Norton Security Center but something tell me there are better things out there i haven't heard of who don't have as much money to advertise everywhere :)

thanks for the recommendations to those who give it.

PS. I'm looking for Security, not Anti-Virus software for those who confuse it.

Norton is a waste and it eats up processor speed like shit. Try something more robust. IMO Kaspersky or NOD32 are you best options.

get kaspersky internet security (kis), or eset smart security (nod32), or even the avast internet security is good.

along with any one (i guess, you know you should only use one antivirus software at a time) of the above use malwarebytes pro.

Microsoft Security Essentials :) it's free AND on the same level with commercial alternatives in efficiency ( search for some reviews if you don't believe me )..

Kaspersky Internet Security is awesome. It's picked up many things that were missed from McAffee, AVG, Norton, MSE, etc. from client computers as well as the computers I have running SENuke and Scrapebox.

I haven't used NOD32, so I can't comment on it, but you'll want something that has an amazing Heuristic analysis of not only stuff running on your computer, but the Javascript and HTML of the page you're browsing.

I can't tell you how many trojans embedded in Flash or JavaScript have been blocked by Kaspersky in ads running even on Facebook or Adsense as I'm browsing around the web. MSE let the majority of them through. I don't use those computers for anything other than SEO programs, so any sniffed information isn't a worry, but still - you really need to be careful.

Tried both Kaspersky and Nod32, and imho nod32 > Kaspersky. Simple, clean, very light, and fast. Can't go wrong.

+1 for Kaspersky Internet Security, it's the best and low on system resources also.

I've been wanting to switch for a while as well, so I also thank everyone for the suggestions. My problem is that I've had NIS 2010 running and all of my passwords & logins are stored. Norton doesn't make it possible to export these to a text or csv file so I could import them into a new password saving program. I can't even imagine having write them all down and start over again. That's the sole reason I haven't changed to a different anti virus prog.

If you still have an active subscription of 2010, you'll need to download the 2011 version to export to a CSV.

Export Identity Safe to another password manager - Norton Community

I suggest using KeePass Password Safe - It's amazing. I got it after realizing I was spending over an hour a day logging into sites - namely sites like Paypal and EPN that log you out after 10-15 mins.
