Photoshop's long loading time is becoming a pain in the ass lately so I'm looking for a lightweight alternative that will still let me do a lot of useful things.
I have infranview installed atm. but that's too basic, I need something between that and Photoshop's functionality.

I searched for lightweight PS alternatives online but there are so many, I can't tell the forest from the trees... So I figured I ask here since mostly here people here are pretty savvy.

What's the best lightweight photoshop in your opinion?

I'm on a fast minilaptop, yet PS is still too slow for basic edits.

I recommend you submit that painting to your local art gallery though, it just could make you rich.

Why not

7.0.png

It uses about 200-400mb ram. Starts in 7 seconds on 2ghz, 256mb video card with 512 mb ram.

It can do 95% of things modern ps can do

Reinstall windows, it's probably bloated with shit. CS5 lads in ~10 secs on my sub $300 test PC..

For reference PS CS6 loads in 4-5 seconds first load, 3 seconds subsequently on my celeron based PC with crucial M4 ssd.

Get an SSD, the best upgrade for any PC with HDD no matter the spec

Buy an SSD if you want Photoshop to work faster.

this x 100

single best upgrade you can do for your computer. you will never want to work on a computer with a regular hard drive again. Everything opens faster with an SSD
