I am starting an incentive offer, and the software for download is 8mb. What is recommended as far as letting the users download it and not really put a strain on my server or bandwidth? Do yo guys recommend I use one of the file hosting services or is there a better way to go about?
Thanks

You can submit your software free to download.com. Pay some people to download and review it, then more people will want to download it too.

get a better server :)

Thanks for the thoughtful answer, but my server as of now is not a problem, and the point of the post was whether it would be a problem if the file was large, and the downloads were many. It is a dedicated server with hostgator.

can't you do megaupload or rapidshare?

I was planning on that, and that was one of the questions in my original post, but I was concerned that the software would then be available to anyone, and it would defeat the purpose of me collecting the email addresses and offering the incentive offers.
I was actually thinking of drop.io for uploading the file. Seems like it has less restrictions and will allow upto 100mb files without an account etc.

I was using e-junkie for a download/payment service, it worked well. It would handle the paypal payment then redirect the user to the file download when the payment was complete. You only need the basic account so it would be $5/month.
