Hi I was wondering what the best places are to start blogs. I know Blogger is supposed to be good, but what are other places you would recommend? I would just like to know so I can keep my options open.

Alright, well I guess I'll look into wordpress since that sounds like it could be good. As for the toilet, I don't want to get anything nasty on my keyboard so I'll have to pass on that.

Wordpress.org hosted on your own server. Not wordpress.com. I'd love to sit here and tell you all about the versatility of wordpress, but 4 billion other posters, bloggers, and affiliate marketers beat me to it.

Good luck, bro.

If you've never installed a CMS before and don't want to deal with it (though WP is easy to install), check hostmonster, blue host, or host gator for cheap hosting with 1 button Wordpress installs.

Thanks, I'll be sure to check all those out. Probably won't blog at starbucks regularly unless I make big money though, that's one expensive cafe.

I second the sentiments on wordpress.org, its fantastic but blogger is worth trying out too, they have some nice widgets including a good kontera one i've used before for in text ads.

Haha, you took his response seriously.

Not really, I was joking around when I said that. Though I suppose starbucks would be preferable to doing it on the toilet.

What I'm probably going to do is make a real blog at one of those places and use one of the others for autoblogs (And no I'm not talking about starbucks or the toilet:xmas-smiley-010:)

There are a handful to choose from: GreyMatter, MovableType, NewsPro, etc... But I'd have to give another check mark for wordpress.org, hosted on your own server.
Fully customizable, easy to install/use, and fully functional :)

Here is what you have to do "for sure":
1. You for sure want to get hosting and host the blog Yourself if you can afford about $6 per month.

2. You for sure want to use wordpress.

3. You for sure need the proper SEO plugins for Permalinks, 301 redirects, sitemap changes etc.

4. You for sure need to learn how to post properly to your blog for SEO purposes.

5. You for sure need to digg, reddit, buzz it, or w/e it is you use to social bookmark your blogs properly.

6. Go on yahoo answers and answer questions related to your website blog (tricky tricky)

7. You for sure need to have some cojones and understand how much time you and money You willing to invest into the project before you start.

8. Don't forget number 7. Benchmark yourself and your short, mid, and long term goals.

9. Learn again how to do it right for SEO purposes.

10. Sprinkle some Social Media in there, I'm a big fan.

11. If you are not sure or get suck on anything ask for help. It might take you 10 minutes to go to a board and ask a question but will take you 5 hours of frustration and stress to figure it out, or maybe even longer.

Bottom Line:

Know what you are doing before you do it and you should be fine. Good question! You are on the right track...
