Hi,

need some advice from my fellow WF mates!

Just purchased a website and it has a bunch of doorway type pages that get search engine traffic then redirects to the homepage. Thing is it uses a 3rd party site to redirect that I no longer will have access to. (the doorway pages themselves are on the domain itself)

I want to take the doorway pages and implement my own redirect but I am not sure which method to use that is safe & will keep the doorway pages ranking).

What is the best way to implement redirection so the doorway pages remain in Google and the rediection takes place on site / page itself (instead of 3rd party).

Thanks Bobby

Thanks, but I take it this method over time will remove the page from the Google index?

I would like to maintain its listing cause it does generate the traffic for the site.

Any other possible way?

Thanks
Bobby

What do you mean by "3rd party site redirect"? You can always use a 301 as bam bam suggested (it means "Moved Permanently" so yes the page will get removed from the index after some time),but you will lose nothing - the visitors will be redirected to your homepage along with PR (if any).

"3rd party" mean the page is set to contact one of their tracking sites, then redirect to the homepage.

If 301 removes the page from the google index over time then it is not the solution. I would like to keep the pages there as they rank high for several keywords.

I guess it could be seen as cloaking, any solutions on how to redirect so the page remains in Google?
