Best VOIP?

Did chat support for em last year..
Honestly was surprised at how good the feedback was on em.. Had heard VOiP horror stories.
Haven't used personally though!

SunRocket is not too bad. The phone is proprietary. I have SunRocket and RingCentral. I'd vote for RingCentral because in the end voip is voip. It is will be more about the services and the features. And RingCentral has alot more services to offer (800, PBX, faxing, etc.)

umm didn't sunrocket close its doors last year?

I just recently hooked up the majickjack phone solution. it's voip and a little usb plugin you plug into an open port. It was like $40 for the device and next years service is $19. Works better than vonage did for a fraction of the price.

I had Lingo for a couple years and it was not bad, but they eventually noticed one of my routers was always kept outside the country and forced me to upgrade that one to a business plan at more than double the normal price.

I just signed up for BroadVoice to get free calling to more countries, but I have not yet recieved the router. I have heard good things about both Vonage and Packet 8.

Who is the best? Vonage?

I use Vonage and love it. I never use more than 500 mins a month and it's dirt cheap. Need to have GREAT broadband though. I have unlimited down (tested at 23Mbits/sec down) and 10 megabits up, so my phone is always crisp.

Vonage uses very little of that connection, about 90k for their highest quality if I remember correctly. I had a VOIP account working great on a crappy 512k dsl connection in the Philippines.

I work for a calling card company, and I know first hand that when it comes to VOIP that Vonage and Skype are by far the most common clients.
It was part of my job a couple of years back to switch customers from VOIP to calling cards and it did work like a charm, but not because calling cards are superior, but because the common american guy doesn't know shit about VOIP and would buy anything that would save him $1 or provides a couple of extra features. :)
I am now in the Affiliate business with calling cards, and it still works really well. VOIP clients are still heavy competitors.

You're correct, however the QoS with Vonage is terrible, so if you have a fatter pipe, the better things go. I can't run any FTP or torrent traffic through when I'm on the phone due to the Vonage routers terrible QoS.

Skype is definitely my favorite VOIP. It's great for video chatting as well.

I had Vonage for about 8 months. IMO they're a POS company. They will fuck you when they can and their support is shit. Read their TOS before you sign up. Mind the cancellation fees and whatnot.
I switched to SunRocket for few months after I got rid of Vonage but they ran out of money and folded.
Ever since then I've been with a small company called VoicePulse. It's around $27 but their support is night and day compared with Vonage and SunRocket.

I heard great things about MajicJack. I'll probably order it whenever I get around to it.

The majicjack is pretty sweet. We went on vacation and took it with us with the laptop and used it for a phone in the condo. Free long distance.

Vonage used to bring down my small network whenever I talked for more than 5 minutes, sometimes less. So far I've only had to reboot once because of of the mj and it was when making a call and another call came in.

I emailed them a while back to see if they had an affiliate program... zero response and nothing on the site I could find.
