Hey, does anybody have any opinions on the best way to monetize a music site aside from itunes/amazon commission or ringtones? Thanks for any help.

you can do ebay as they sell just about everything and every type of merch for every band.

True, but if you discount new referrals to ebay and just look at the revenue percentages per sale, isn't it pretty bad? (Sorry, haven't done anything with ebay)

as far as rev % they give you like 55%+ of the ebay fees. The trick is to find items with high ebay fees. Collectibles and high dollar items would do the trick as these items typically have all the upgrades (featured, gallery etc) which make the fees higher. If you play with it you can make some decent money plus the $25+ per new referral is nice too.

I guess you can look at CJ or Linkshare as well and see if you can find a good merchant like Guitar Center or Musicians Friend and pimp them on your site too.

depends but most of music site visitors are not willing to open their CC or not have CC. CPM works fine, zipcode..

Ticket sites might be worth a look at if you've got gig-going visitors. Not looked at US ones yet but in the UK the original sellers pay fuck all (25p-£1/sale) but the big touts (resellers) might be better than ebay.

Depending on the niche and demographic of ya traffic I might be interested in buying some adspace.

Neverblue and a few other networks have an offer called "Ez-Tracks" which offers free legal downloads of music.
