1st post: "Just wondering really, how would one go about setting up probably an email submit offer, where it would all be hosted on my own servers? I.e. finding companies/people willing to buy email leads?

Thanks :D"

2nd post: "And I considered mailing myself a while ago, but to get a return on that, wouldn't it be quite long term? Like a year or something? Obviously by then you've made a larger profit, but until then you're left with no money. Is it possible to make money with an email list short term though?

And what sort of things could you mail "free ipod" etc traffic?

Thanks very much :)"

Thanks :)

Here's a nice big pair of tits in return:

Lead Buyer Network - Connect with industry people and companies
LeadPile - Online Exclusive Lead Marketplace / Lead Exchange

Record your opt in info stringently and beware of shady folks because in the lead game there are many both for buying and selling. Leadbuyernetwork is your best bet - reach out to some people on there. Also just google for 'lead buyers' and you'll find various other sites but leadpile is a big one. You have a few options for leads - you can offload them to a broker who will take a cut and then go direct, or you can try to find companies to directly sell leads to them. It's sort of like running as a pub vs running direct -if you go through a broker there's often less risk but there's also less margins. It's also more convenient. Google on wickedfire for more info about 'selling leads' and a number of threads come up. Email marketing is a separate game. Small lists can be done thru mailchimp or aweber but bigger lists you will need other MTAs and lots of other expensive tools the bigger your list is. Certain sectors of lead gen can be quite profitable. Most of the leadgen for autoinsurance and financial done thru the CPA networks is done by lead collectors and brokers, often not the actual auto insurance companies themselves. They might sell the lead they pay 10 dollar to the affiliate network for, which pays 7 dollar to the publisher, and go around and sell that to auto insurance companies for 15-20, for example (these numbers are approximations).

Thanks a load for those 2 websites - hadn't seen the first one before :)

kk, and yeah, I'll have a look. As to email marketing, yeah, I have a limited knowledge of email marketing, although it's only a pretty basic knowledge - no direct experience. And yeah, I know about the lead price cutting - I see all these home improvement leads paying £6, when I know (used to sell door to door) the companies actually pay up to £100 :p

I couldn't see any categories of lead on those 2 sites that fitted just plain "free ipod" etc email submits. Any suggestions?

Thanks. :)

Anyone else got any advice, as well?

Where do we find these lead brokers ? I cant seem to find any trusted and good paying $ ones .

PS : know any designer to design lead gen pages

PPS : What software you use to collect the leads ?

drunk networking at conferences = any and all knowledge you need to acquire

FYI
Haha, I'll be at ASW, but I could do with this info a little sooner :P

Good designers are in the BST section, and generally, people don't use any kind of software, simply a HTML/PHP form posting to a MySQL database.

According to Mailchimp they can handle 3 mil. subscribers. Just curious if you have a specific reason for saying they are only for small lists? We are currently integrating their api on a couple of our sites.
