Old threads on this topic didn't seem to be correct (or at least complete w/ people reporting back with results) & figuring I'm not the only one who has dug around in here looking for an answer.
I'd like to run some experiments on if shaving my redirect speeds will increase my conversion rate & am currently cloaking with p202 - considering new bevo as an alternative as well.
I've heard running through https would be faster and seen probably 1/2 a dozen articles where people are saying https strips referrers (e.g. articles advising to cloak aff links with https, articles discussing how google https searches strip referrers for GA, etc.)
However, I've run numerous tests just now checking referrers using cloaked & uncloaked links. Https only seems to be stripping referrers in IE. Firefox and chrome passes those referrers right through.
If all those articles & posts are right about https stripping referrers (written by much smarter people than me), then what am I doing wrong? I'd love to shave that time off my redirects but not at the cost of exposing my traffic source. And yes, I know they could figure it out if they really wanted, but I don't think they'll go through the extra effort - just don't want to hand it to them on a silver platter
