I’m a little confused about the rules/laws around bidding on copyright terms in search engines.

How do you know if it is allowed or not?

The reason I’m asking is because I was recently promoting an offer through Commision Junction and got in trouble for bidding on a copyright keyword. It was listed in the terms and conditions, but I didn’t bother to read that (lol).

So, is this only prohibited if it is stated in the terms of the offer, or what? How would I know that it wasn’t allowed if I was just promoting my own site and not an offer with terms and conditions?

Hey!

Yes, and no. This is kinda of a two way street... If the copyright/trademark owners get really annoyed then they can sue you for using their trademark in the search engines... the laws really also changes state to state... some states will uphold the trademark holders right on the trademark some states wont... its a big battle that is in court systems...it ranges state to state...

I would ask the trademark holders...But I think that if you are promoting them.. you should be ok...
