BlackBerry Touch - BlackBerry Storm Phone - Blackberry Storm Smartphone

This comes out tomorrow, today technically, so I thought I'd see what you guys think. From what I've seen it looks pretty solid.

Here's a review: Five Reasons BlackBerry Storm Is An iPhone Killer - The Channel Wire - IT Channel News And Views by CRN and VARBusiness

I need to upgrade to a new phone pretty badly, and I want something I can use to help with affiliate marketing.. this looks like it might be the one. I'm stuck on Verizon otherwise I'd be open to more options..

Thoughts?

I vote maybe. I've played with one and the software is garbage. The touch screen button kicks ass but I'm sure in a few weeks you'll be pissed at how laggy and buggy the software is...

Most of the big tech blogs out there have kinda shit on it... mostly because it was supposed to be the iPhone, G1 and Storm in the "elite" class of "uber coolness" and I'm hearing the Storm doesn't quite live up on the all around end.

Nevertheless its still probably the best phone on Verizon at the moment and I am considering getting this... I have the Voyager now... but I hate the Voyager's lagginess and I'm afraid I'll buy into the Storm early and be let down again for being an early adopter.

If you're definitely sticking with Verizon I would definitely go Storm. But keep in mind that the Samsung Omnia and Palm Treo Pro could both be hitting Verizon in the next couple months. Storm trumps them in my book though.

Just my 3252 cents

I will have one in a few hours. I hope trig is wrong on the software. What was garbage about it?

Very slow. Very... very slow.

Apparently I had a unit that was production ready hardware and beta software... but even after the "real" reviews came out on the net people were saying that the phone lagged too much.

I did, however, enjoy the web browsing experience on the phone... when I could connect.

In addition, a lot of the phone's like/dislike rests on if you view the touch screen button as effective feature or mere novelty. Some will still think they can type better/faster on something like the Bold and simply not want/like the Storm.

If my 2 year contract was coming up I would definitely be getting the Storm. BUT... its the type of phone I would recommend trying for yourself in store before buying.

But... Thats just me...

I'm going to upgrade to this tomorrow from my 8330. Gonna give it a test run for a couple weeks to see if I like it. I just want the Bold to come to Verizon.

Also to trigatch there is supposed to be a software update tomorrow or within the next week to fix the lagginess and acceleromator. The beta versions were versions .62 and I think recently they just upgraded it to .65. But this next upgrade is supposed to be in the .75-.92 range. Hard to tell, since "everyone" has a friend who either works for RIM / Verizon

Wait till it actually has wifi, it's fucking stupid that blackberry did that but they know they have a bunch of retards lined up to buy it. It seems they do this for all the blackberry's lately [since the pearl at least]. Give it a few months the price will come down and the second gen will be better.

I'm not the kind of person whom jumps on the band wagon right away, but I am the person who laughs at everyone whom goes out and buys a shitty first gen product.

I have one, got it a few days ago (UK) wish I had just upgraded to the Bold. The touch screen is hard to use with sausage fingers like mine. Screen quality is good though, feels very fragile. Personally I would try one out for a bit to see if you can deal with the buttons.

does it come with a pen?

Overall, I was looking at reviews and they said that it going to run good and fast. well that what i read.

Nope, its an faux touch screen. There is actually a keyboard behind the screen so it recognises when you are touching a key which then highlights, you then have to push the screen and you can feel a click where the screen actually pushes a switch behind it. I dont like it, cant type as fast as I could on previous BBs, think im going to swap it for a Bold.

Verizon told BB to exclude wifi specifically so users would be forced to use the Verizon data network (and potentially pay $/mb fees).

I just picked up my storm a couple hours ago. To say the least Curve > Storm

The OS seems so rushed on the storm.

tried this in the store... cant believe how slow it is.. def wont be getting one unless they fix it.

I got the Bold a few weeks ago and have been very impressed with the device.. the Storm looks great, but doesn't match the features and speed (and prowess) of the Bold.

The storm is garbage.. went in to test it out.. was going to get one.. and its the most unorganized slow piece of shit ever.
