bought a cool domain, not sure what to do with it... may be worth somethin?

So i was kicking back checking out some titties and ass pics of some random hot chicks in a thread on another forum...

was scrolling through the pics and came up with the idea for a domain name "would smash.com" after reading the posts in the thread.

i'm getting kinda bored of my regular content based websites, doing the SEO thing and going through the same motions, so i want to create something viral this time.

The idea for the site would be a photo blog where users upload their pics and visitors to the site rate the pics "would smash? yes or no" and leave their comments...

I don't knwo if the whole hot or not.com generation of websites like this are dead and gone but girlsinyogapants.com has a bit of a following although i'm guessing their site is still based around some keywords.

so what do you guys think, shit idea?

going to end up with legal problems?

My suggestion is to go over to GFY and do some serious reading first. Seems easy and like a lot of fun but you have to be a little bit wary about what content you do use and where you get it from.

Other than that - I'd say go for it. :D

Shouldn't be much of a worry as long as it user generated content though, right? That's how ripoffreport has been able to get away with it, and looking at your sig you as well, yeah!?

Yeah as long as it's web 2.0 user content with a removal link for every image you should be cool. But then again you'd have to manually review every image submitted to avoid child pornography and unrelated images.

And if you're manually reviewing each one then that means you've willingly let them on your site.

So host offshore.

ah, here lies the problem...

...the CP thing worries me for obvious reasons, i don't want it on my site and i also don't want to be subjected to viewing it.

The thing i find interesting though is even if *someone* did take pics and upload it to either their own site or used it for advertising, as long as they found the picture on a public domain (for example; an internet forum) doesn't that waive the right of the person in the picture as they've put their picture on public domain?

EDIT: Also... isn't facebook practically the same thing? you can upload pics of other people and comment them

You would be surprised. For user generated content like the self shot/ex GF/amature stuff, you would need 2257 documentation (basically a signed waiver), or you could actually land yourself in hot water.

That would be a great setup and . it could go virally real easy. make sure you have share links on twitter ,digg,sumbleupon , facebook, and reggit

im either going to be using wordpress or joomla, unfamiliar with wordpress but does anyone know of either a joomla or wp theme site which would have something that could work for this?

Do yourself a favor and forget about joomla for this.
Take a look at some of the image gallery plugins for wordpress like nextgen gallery, with some slight modifications you can do what you're looking to do.

You may not even need wordpress, some of those galleries are also standalone.
