Although it was inevitable:

Tony Hayward will step down as chief executive of BP, the company announced Tuesday, amid ongoing outrage over the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

BP said Hayward will be replaced by American Robert Dudley effective Oct. 1.
...

Given his recent performance, compensation experts say he will probably not receive the lucrative cash bonuses or stock awards given to many outgoing executives at comparable U.S. corporations.

Meh. All part of PR management. They probably made him say that so everyone would get all riled up against him and then they fire him, hire an american guy to make it look like they give a fuck.

Finally, an American steals a job from a foreigner.

fuck that guy, seriously. there is some shit you just don't say. Can you imagine if George Bush said "I just want my life back" after one of his many messes. Even he had the sense to not be seen playing Golf while we were at war (as opposed to yacht racing and shit).

I know a lot of people probably want their life back too Tony, unfortunately your company fucked it up for them and while you get to go off into retirement they are going to be struggling for a while. Get hit by an oil drum, asshole.
