I have recently started a really cool little blog, that I'm quite excited about. The niche is really small but it's on fire, and has some great demographics.

I'm concerned with my domain name though, and I'm feeling a bit stupid about it. Because my blog is about how to use a particluar peice of software I've named it:

[SOFTWARE NAME]-tips.com

Now, I don't know if there's much wrong with that. I've seen a lot of sites with 'windows', 'photoshop', 'google', in their d/names. I'm just thinking about long term problems. I don't wanna really push this, just to find out I need to shut it down or change my domain!

What's your thoughts?

Joe

get ready to get that domain confiscated by the company that owns it! ;)
Not always the case. =) Depends on the intent and what you are using it for. Though M$ is pretty anal about their names but there are ways around everything. Just saying...

I have a client in the VoIP industry and their are plenty of generic VoIP domain names and there's nothing that can be done to prevent it. I also have a client that has ipod in his domain and thats pretty specific too. You just never know with this situation. So, "Rock out with your cock out" till somebody makes you put it away!
