Posted in the newbie section so I dont get the piss taken out of me.....like last time.

Author Markup......Any rules to say I cant use a company logo as the Google Plus profile pic?

Having a branded search engine result looks pretty awesome.

Unfortunately you cannot use company logos for Google+ Author Rank. You can however (along with many other indications) help Google place you as a 'brand' by connecting your Google+ business page to your website with rel="publisher".

I don't know of any algorithm or what they use to detect it, but from my experience they just won't even approve the process (it will never show up). There's a short window before the handshake between your Google+ profile and user profile (or entire website) is registered by Google, and I'm guessing they use this time to pull company logos, inappropriate images (cleavage.. porn etc.).
 
I figured I was being a smart ass and used a profile pic out of the box.
3 days later, jump in SERPS and profile pic appear in the SERPS.
Switched out the profile pic to a logo. Lasted for about 10 hours then dropped off.
Switched back to a pic of some random guy off Shutterstock and author markup is showing exactly where I want it again.
Shame, but not the end of the world.
