You probably saw this on your FB feed. Powerful shit right here. Makes you reflect on your life and all your little meaningless problems.

The Battle We Didn't Choose

Makes you wonder what the point of Chemotherapy is. It seems to cause more suffering than anything. If you had a terminal form of cancer, wouldn't you rather spend your last 1-2 years enjoying life to the fullest rather than going through these weekly sessions that just seem to destroy you more and more every time?

I felt so bad after seeing those pictures. My mom fought with breast cancer and she won by going through the alternative medicine route. Chemo is not a cure, neither is surgery. Fuck man... I feel so bad for that guy right now. Shit hurts.

So, I should feel better that my father died by leukemia (another type of cancer)? Suffered only 2 months.

My 82 year old grandfather was just diagnosed with stomach cancer, there's no way he's going to lie down and take this shit. First case of cancer in my entire family so quite a surprise.

I've done a lot of research on clinical trials and studies, simple things like fasting for a day or two before chemo can protect your normal cells and avoid most of the major side effects. Not sure whether it's part of the standard care yet.

Mostly that the foods which we consume are poisoning us. Also, there are a wide number of supplements ranging from ginko biloba to chlorella which you can take to strengthen your nervous and immune system. 90% of the effort is taken care of by your digestive tract. The rest is simply exercise and meditation + sleep.

Powerful/compelling stuff there. I've been really wanting to get into photography lately.

It's okay though, "she's in a better place now", worshiping the Omnipotent (can do anything) and Omnipresent (watched it happen) God that chose not to intervene because of his precious plan.

So why are you spamming WF instead of meditating?

I like boobs more than the next guy, but I dislike that breast cancer gets 99% of the "cancer publicity". Do we really need hundreds of millions of dollars raised for a cancer that can be found and properly treated if women were getting screened at an early age?

My wife's sister died of a horrible blood cancer probably none of you have heard of. Multiple Myeloma. At the age of 45 none the less. The same year she lost her brother, 46 to colon cancer. The next year my aunt died of lung cancer, non-smoker, at the age of 60. Yeah, all cancer sucks, but the favoritism toward a few types of cancer gets old after a while.

The photos are very saddening, and I feel horrible for her husband. I'm sure he feels differently about breast cancer than I, but the fact is that women shouldn't be dying from it these days. I don't see it as the priority cancer that needs a cure at this point.

Guys...

I found out my mom may have lymphoma. The hematologist is 80% sure right now, and we'll get the complete confirmation on Tuesday after the bone marrow test comes in.

It's just now starting to hit me, though. I can handle the stress pretty well, but still feelsbadman. Will probably drop school and head home after I hear the diagnosis and treatment schedule.

... do you guys have any tips? On anything?

The publicity is because it's the most common type, AND it's the most treatable. Raising publicity has a significant benefit as you can stop it before it gets worse. Raising publicity for something like brain cancer won't yield the same results since it affects less people and there's not much you can do to find it early or treat it as effectively.

Lost mum to lung and liver cancer five years ago. What we wondered at the time was whether the cancer killed her in the end or the morphine the hospital pumped into her for pain relief that she actually overdosed on. Not that it matters since it was an aggressive cancer and they couldn't operate on her. She had chemo once and didn't want any more and died three months after being diagnosed. Her partner died a few years later with stomach cancer. He had his stomach removed, but three years later it returned and killed him.

Sorry to hear that, man.
