I am thinking of commissioning a epos system but have never really messed around with desktop based applications. I have some basic requirements
Each store will have a master account
Adding a new terminal (till) will be as simple as registering it on the network
Store owner can pull all data from a web app
Customers can order online and will be placed directly in the system
I would love this to be fully cloud based but my concern would be if dsl goes down the store would be unable to operate. It would be idea if the client data/product database was stored locally but uploaded in realtime when available.
It will also need to interface with caller ID and epos drawers etc.
A lot of the apps are crap looking so I want to build something pretty slick and visually pleasing.
Any ideas of what the best programming language would be to use for scalability and reliability?
