I cant seem to get a straight answer about this. Is it illegal for US residents to use online gambling places? Does that mean as a US resident I cant promote casino affiliate stuff?

The online gambling/poker affiliate programs will accept US-based affiliates. I do not know whether it's legal/illegal for you to promote these programs.

If you want to promote gaming (i.e. casino, poker, sportsbook, etc) to US residents, you'll want to choose an affiliate program that isn't fearful of the long arm of US law. You'll want to avoid any publicly-traded companies like PartyGaming, for instance.

EU is slamming(suing) the US with the banning online casino for few bils. So maybe in a year or so, it will be 100% legal. Right now it is at the gray line.

Promoting gambling to US consumers is a federal racketeering charge, you can promote it to consumers outside the US and live in the US

If you have questions about it then don't do it to be safe.

But as far as I knowyou cannot host any gambling sites on us property. If the site is hosted outside the us then you are ok. I also heard that if you have jsut affiliate links that is ok. Now it is a huge no-no to process money for gambling wiht us servers. now like I said this is how I know the law to be.
