Okay here's the deal. I'm reading this thread http://www.wickedfire.com/hosting-domains/13737-avoid-1and1-law-question.html
and this guy http://www.wickedfire.com/members/jsloan.html comes in "posing" as a newbie to the forum defending 1and1. Well it was obvious he was a total "company warrior" from his post and was exposed for being an employee of 1and1. Now all of a sudden he's open about being a 1and1 employee and is trying to be more upfront. But basically it's total crap. He should have accurately represented himself as a 1and1 employee from the start.

I find this happening more and more. It's really pathetic. Can we get a ban on companies who have members that pose like they are not employees? Maybe a list of all the companies who come on here and pose like they are not employees or agents of a company so we know who to avoid.

WickedFire is here to help new webmaster get solid footing and successful webmasters to acheive more. Deceitful tactics and dis-information from over zealous company men goes totally against what WF is for.

Maybe have companies register and when their employees get an itch whatever resolution that is agreed to serves as an agreement in writing or something.

I dunno I'm just tired of all the fake useful posts/tutorials and how to's about nothing and most importantly companies spies and workers posing as members with no company attachments. So can we ban them or the companies or something? :angrysoapbox_sml:

I don't know how the enforcement would work, but i agree. Any company that misrepresents themselves as a happy customer needs to be banned.

Edit: I read his post, and i honestly didn't see any signs of him pretending to be someone else. Did I miss something in another thread?

It's not that he was overly pretending, he simply was not upfront about being a 1and1 employee, but the post was laced with what I consider ambiguous corporate relations doublespeak. The fact of the matter is in my opinion if was purely about "helping" with the issue at hand and not public relations a PM to the thread starter would have been more than appropriate.

The thing of it is he is just the last in a long line of recent behavior that sucks. He definitely is not a worst case example. The thing is if a person works for a company then they need to come right out with it on the first post, so we can be jaded, ignore or unleash all of our fury on them.

Plus the fact that they only / suddenly can speak for their services on WF when it's a problem with a customer seems suspect. WF isn't for companies to defend their wares. It's for US the webmasters. If you're going to speak up for the company, it needs to be official it needs to be in your profile and please don't let your first post be to defend the company. If a company has a resolution it needs to be handled privately. Then let the thread starter come forward and say how awesome the solution was or how crappy it was, but they say that the company member here tried to help them and not work PR on the boards.

Almost every thread where a member speaks on an issue if a company rep shows up the dynamic of the thread changes and otherwise useful / new / resourceful information goes silent or it just turns into a show for the company and no longer about the person and the issue...man I'm just tired of all the get money tutiorials with nothing in them.. man I'm rambling, I'm cranky and I need to make some pages to generate some moola....I'll be back....

I'm getting frustrated too but I just don't post about it. I want a paid members area that requires staff review before acceptance where the review is based off their posts here (are they helpful or do all their thousands of posts basically suck?).

I also would kill for a group AIM or MSN chat session (or even IRC) where I could ask questions of other proven members here. That would kick ass too.

I've met some solid people through here but wish it could be more.

I'll totally second that, WF should definitely have a chat room somewhere.

I seriously don't get this at all. If it was so obvious to you that he was a company rep, how has he deceived anyone? When I read that post I thought "Okay heres a 1&1 guy defending his company" just like the rest of you did. Why is that bad? He was perfectly polite, and added to the discussion in the thread with some good points.

It's not like the guy is an idiot. He could've changed his handle if he wanted to, like you know, to something that wasn't his name. I have heard as many 1&1 stories as the next guy, but it seems like there are so many overly sensitive on wicked fire. You guys have thick stick about cursing, sure, but are turned off by some real conversation on a forum?
