AP - "We are outraged that Congress is seriously considering language that would effectively categorize pizza as a vegetable in the school lunch program," Amy Dawson Taggart, the director of the group, said in a letter to members of Congress before the final plan was released. "It doesn't take an advanced degree in nutrition to call this a national disgrace."

Pizza is a vegetable? Congress says yes - TODAY Health - TODAY.com

Come at us Israel. Our pizzas are ready.

I'm not trying to belittle America here, because I've no doubt it's the same the world over, but I watched a program with Jamie Oliver, who travelled to America (I think it was the Huntingdon series) and tried to help people eat better.

Well, he went to a primary school and quizzed children on what various vegetables were and hardly any could name more than a couple. Then he showed how they're fed fucking flavoured milk (which the heath authority says is good for them or some bollocks) and that they generally live off shit.

Obviously they need viewers, so there's no doubt some spin and careful editing involved, but I was shocked that the powers that be wouldn't let him feed them healthier stuff, because they (the FDA or someone) had decided they need "a bread" amongst other crap. It was fucking ludicrous.

They have no flavored milk in the UK ? Nesquik is bomb bro. As a kid, that shit was liquid cocaine.

They also have non-flavored milk as well. It's not like that's the only thing there to drink. Kids are also funny in that they will get embarrassed / shy and not actually tell you everything they know about something. My son (5) brought home a progress report and it said he couldn't count past 15. I said wtf, because he can count over 100. Turns out he just "got scared", because they wanted him to do it in front of the class. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the kids featured felt the same way.

The meals at our schools aren't healthy though and now they're trying to dictate what parents can and can't send with their kids in a sack lunch. A lot of places are saying you can't send soda, because it's bad! They forget or don't care how much sugar is in the flavored milk though, because herp derp milk is healthy.

Congress wants to keep pizza and french fries on school lunch lines, fighting back against an Obama administration proposal to make school lunches healthier.

There isn’t much tomato paste on commercial pizza. The cheap stuff they give kids is more bread than anything.

Pizza can be very healthy or very unhealthy. On one hand you can have a slice with multigrain thin crust, loaded with fresh vegetables. On the other, double cheese, every type of meat, tons of grease, etc. This makes it tough to classify so why try.

Same thing with my son and he is about to turn 5 this month.

If your kids aren't active enough to burn off a few extra calories from some chocolate milk then turn the TV off and get them moving. I grew up on chocolate milk... still drink it almost every day. I am not unhealthy or close to being overweight.

OMG the sky is falling....run for your lives!

P.S. I do agree that pizza is not a vegetable, but WTF does this have to do with a cancer vaccine?

Pizza: Made of wheat, tomatoes, olive oil, etc. Sounds like vegetables to me boys.
LULZ- Be careful Bro, Most americans reading that line might think it was serious...

Even back when I was in grade school (and dinos still roamed the earth) we had shitty, shitty nutritional laws already. The Food pyramid that is a FEDERALLY-created nutritional benchmark, has been TOTALLY WRONG all this time and gives way too much attention to dairy while keeping carbs mixed in with the "Breads and Cereals" food group.

Newsflash uncle sam: Potatoes and many things you label as a vegetable are prime sources of CARBS, which are what you were really trying to go for with the breads and cereals group.

Obviously, back when the food pyramid was being constructed in washington, the Farmers unions or even Corporate farms had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much lobbying power on capital hill.

This shit needs to be scrapped & redone, period.

This is great news for all the pizza farmers.

I made a pizza yesterday can I get pizza subsidies now ?

It was posted after I read the article entitled "Breakthrough: Israel develops cancer vaccine" on sts.

The problem with our food is the portion sizes and the fact that the typical American's diet revolves around animal products.

There have been many studies done and continuous consumption of animal products like meat and milk have a direct link with things like heart disease, diabetes, and many cancers.

Honestly, most of the stuff that is killing us today shouldn't even exist. But people are either uneducated or too lazy to do anything about it.
