Cigar Smokers

We can debate forever on what a good cigar is, and in fact, I've almost gotten into a fight with some asshole who I wasted a Cuban Yellow-band Cohiba on. The guy took a few puffs and said "too strong" and broke it in half. I almost broke him in half, especially when he pulled a cherry flavored $2 cigar you find at your local gas station and preferred that.

Anyway, anything in Cuba or Domenican Republic I really enjoy. I have a passion for the Robusto/Torpedo cigars. I don't like the really long ones. I typically smoke a stogey twice a week when I'm outdoors relaxing, but I get tired of it after about 30 mins, I'm not like Tony Soprano or Archie Bunker there.

I have a friend who is really into cigars, he has a humidor with a satellite linkup that monitors the humidity and temp control, it's pretty sick. My humidor is pretty big, about 4' high and is like a little mini piece of furniture.

Believe it or not, the Mall 20 mins away has a smoke shop, and if you know the guy or he trusts you, he'll take you to his back room and open up a giant trunk full of Cubans, but his prices ($35 per cigar) are a little steep.

The red Cohibas, Punch, Davidoff, Monte Cristo's will certainly do when no Cubans are available, too!

Anymore I'll only smoke a couple per month. I'm like you Roundabout in that I don't really have the time or interest to smoke a Churchill for 3 hours. Robustos are perfect for me. I've had a few Ashton's lately and I've always like the darker wraper Onyx. Punch, Gloria Cubana, and H. Upman are some of my favs also. The box-press Upmans have been a favorite of mine recently. I designed a nice size humidor I've been wanting to build for a couple of years, but just haven't gotten around to it. My humidor now must not be sealing tight anymore, because it's difficult to regulate.

Fuck yes. A good cigar is a few hours of pure heaven.

I mostly prefer maduros, but have two humidors and a coolerdor full of all types of yum yums.

As for specific brands, Ummm...

Padron (Anniversary 1964 or 1926)
Rocky Patel Edge
Anejo Shark
CAO Brazillia
Oliva Serie V
RASS

was anyone else a huge fan of those hand rolled cigars they had at the advaliant mansion party at asw last year? They were bomb. I wish i could have bought some extras and brought em home.

Cigars ... That's when I miss smoking, a damn good cigar hand rolled on the inside thigh of a beautiful virgin. (Okay, so its more likely to be some 165 pound 68 year old grandmother rolling the tobacco leaves.)

Favorites:

Romeo y Julieta

Davidoff

Friend of mine gave me box of Cohiba Piramides and I have never smoked cigar in my life. He was telling me that they are very special but what do I know. Right now I am kind of torn to start smoking them since prolly as a newbie to cigar world I won't appreciate what I got (if they are special as he is saying)

Should I or should I wait and get some experience with other cigars first?

^ For the love of all that is holy please tell me that they are in a humidor of some sort.

I'm an avid cigar smoker / lover. It's really a nice relaxing thing to do, sit back, and plot my next move without intrupption. I smoke them sometimes in my office (when weather does not permit) and I've installed several high end air purifiers to take care of the smell when I do so - but usually I smoke on my balcony.

Ok, sorry about the love profession above. I refuse to spend more than 50$ on a cigar, when you start to spend more than $50 they start curing it in random shit and adding random shit to the cigar. It's not necessary in my opinion.

ChrisS <3, first off. You hit some of my favorite cigars:

CAO Brazillia
Rocky Patel Edge
Oliva Serie V
Avo Venezuelan Companero
Romeo Y Julieta Resvera Real

... are some of my favorites. I take my cigar game seriously - full humidor at all times, xikar cigar cutter, etc.

ALL DAY!!

so as a non-smoker, I've always wondered about cigars. On the second hand end, they stink - but I'm guessing the taste on the first hand is way different. I don't want to get into a habit though, or cigarettes, etc, but cigars seemed interesting I guess

i dont smoke often, so i grab whats decent at the local smoke shop, chill with some friends over a beer and kick back. not an afficionado when it comes to cigars.

but my hookah.... lets talk..

^^^^^That was my VERY FIRST thought as I read his post. : palm to forehead :

P.S. My first cigars were "Backwoods", the Clint Eastwoods as we called them in the Marines. Lulz http://backwoods-cigars.com/

Personally, my favorite to date has been a Monte Cristo White. I've sampled quite a few, some very fine cubans... but the monte cristo had the smoothest and most enjoyable draw.

Also, when I was at a beer festival in Oregon I had an Oliva that was quite amazing.

Well I'm a huge fan of the CAO Gold!

But I also would suggest: PUNCH and MACANUDO for the price.

Of course you cant go wrong with a Phillie Blunt! ah just brings me back to my youth!

I like a lot of the mainstream ones mentioned - Onyx, Macanudo, Cohiba. I'll maybe add Arturo Fuente. All depends what I'm sipping on - cognac or scotch, or maybe a triple bock. Macallan 18 by default. My buddy is a pilot for United and usually comes home with some interesting smokes depending on where he goes.
