I have a few city domains I'd like to put some effort into, ala the 100k thread, but I need a relatively easy way to do it.

I'd like a a site with at least a local directory, real estate and classifieds. I've looked through endless pay per year scripts, but I'd just like a one time payment deal.

Any suggestions on something that works well and isn't fucking ugly?

Also, if you can put it together ( I don't care how, wordpress, joomla, etc.) pm me if you'll do it for a reasonable price.

Thanks for any suggestions fuckers.

comes may i might have time to do this for u if u want, we could try it out on one domain and if it you like it we could work something out for the rest of em.

pm details on exactly what you're looking for, ex/ scraping, design, logo, directory, real estate listing, etc. to see if its all within my abilities. i work with joomla for the record.

Im looking for a similiar soluton for a city portal.. edirectory seems nice but a bit expensive.

Please let me know if you find anything.. Mabye joomla with extensions could work.

Get WFReview and a Yellow Pages scraper and that will get you started with a directory with Wordpress.

+rep James.

To the previous two dweebs, re-read the words I quoted and buy that shit. reviewpluginforwordpress.com

while review may be easier in my opinion (and experiences), building a full out portal with joomla is more impressive

We have a product (unnamed a of yet, but Premium Placement Plugin is what we're calling it now) that will allow you to setup a Wordpress directory, and charge for the posts. Keep an eye out for it on Tuesday/Wednesday. (Friday if the beer fairy stops by!)

No offense to the wordpress plugin guys but forcing a blogging script to become a full fledged directory is just unprofessional and shortsighted at best.

edirectory while expensive is actually much cheaper in the long run when you consider what features are included such as billing support, classified ads, article section, multi level memberships, google maps.

Nobody is going to take you seriously using these cheap scripts and wordpress. You want to generate 100k a year but are not willing to shell out 2k for a script? If you can't afford it now that's fine. Simply save your money until you can or try creative ways of raising the capital (offer equity, free advertising for x amount of time).

I'm going to shoot that fucking fairy. (I've always wanted to say that.)

We sell sugar/caffeine pills and call them Acai weight loss products.
We sell grant biz op offers and call them 'opportunities'

This biz is about fitting square pegs into round holes. If someone wants to use a fucking Frontpage 5.0 script what the fuck is it to you? Our customers have come up with some obscenely creative sites and make excellent money.

Your 'analysis' is simplistic and amateurish at best.

That's called marketing. I hope you are not comparing your script to a placebo.

Total cost of ownership is what is important here. The review scripts including yours are very effective but don't try and pass it off as a directory script. You and I both know that almost nobody using the sub $200 scripts are making 100k/yr. My post was intended to offer a solution that I feel was in the best interest of the user and not to step on anybody's toes.

I am not trying to derail the thread or have you lose a sale but let's be honest when it comes to offering real solutions.

I guess I could have been a little nicer in my reply.

Let me clarify.

You're saying a Porsche is needed to drive 75 miles an hour from point A to point B
I'm saying you can drive a Ford Taurus 75 miles an hour and from point A to point B.

Porsche is gonna be a nicer ride, but in the end, you still fucking get to point B.

Same with watches. Buy a $30K watch and see how it tells the exact same time as a $5 walmart Timex. Not saying the Timex is gonna impress anyone, but you get the point.

I know of 3 guys who are over the $30K mark since February utilizing WFReview as part of their service offering. I guarantee you it's because they architected an excellent site and service, not because they paid $2K or $162 for some directory script.

I appreciate all the responses. I like BBs plug in, but I was looking for a bit more. After some searching, I see that there are classifieds and real estate plug ins for wordpress also. I was thinking that taking a magazine type theme and adding BBs plugin for a directory, plus the classifieds and real estate plugins might be a good thing. Anyone that is good with wordpress have a say? I assume that you can have all of those plugins added with a single theme, but I don't know.

Even though it may not be tough, I just don't know much about wordpress since I tend to make my LPs from scratch. This pretty much demands a CMS though.
