I want to clone a wordpress them from someone else's site, any way I can do this plus any plug-ins they use?

Before anyone says anything, I'm not ripping their site off or duplicating it, I just want the bare bones of their site.

Without having administrative access, no, you can't clone it in any sort of automated way.

You can, of course, "view source" and use other contextual clues to figure out if the theme and plugins are something that you can download or purchase. Some artifacts, like the .css for the theme, and the images, etc, are obviously things you can copy.

Personally, though, I think it's kind of a shitty thing to do, unless the site is running a stock theme that can downloaded or purchased.

I don't want to copy their website, just some of the functionality, it's that simple.

Okay well it depends. It could be a theme function, wordpress plugin or something custom made. Since your so vague it really depends. Get a wordpress developer to look at it and they will tell if it's custom, a plugin or anything else.

You can pull down the site as flat HTML using wget, curl, httrack and other tools, but as the above posters suggest you're better off pointing a developer at the specific functionality you want to replicate and have them recreate it.

Hello mate ,

Are you still looking for a wordpress website developer who can customize a website according to your choice , you can add me up on skype at sam.hunt0710.

Thanks

... whatever, shitty be damned... i have wanted to do the same thing basically (and use a site ripper for mac called sitesucker that if i set to ignore .htaccess will - obviously not pull useable plugins etc. but it will show me the dir of which ones they have installed... same for themes etc... its easy to find if its a stock theme)

and no i dont want to literally rip it off but mirror the basic structure etc ... of basic formula review type sites in my niche - i mean i am happy to hire people to make my own version anyway - but previous attempts at this through odesk have failed, as there are some semi-complex review and comparison functionality i wanted done.

Hence the reason for me to try and figure out how a few of these competitors had set things up...

(I am a bit moral ;) ... hey i'd never attempt neg seo!
