Color theme and conversions

Does anyone know anything about color themes affecting conversions for sales or presell pages?

Specifically, what colors would improve conversions? I've heard good things about blue and gray for overall design and orange for calls-to-action.

There's not really an appropriate answer to this other than split test!

The most effective color depends on your target audience and your offer, among other things.
