.com vs .info - does it hurt conversions?

Tested it. Yes. Although might depend on Your offer.

Might want to test it Yourself, that'll be the most accurate answer.

I have heard from many people that .info's hurt your conversion rate slightly. Plus .info's aren't easy to get an authority ranking in Google which could lower you CPC.

Depends entirely on the niche. Some people might look at "info" and think its untrustworthy while they'd trust com because of the high level of spam on info domains.

However, bprimeelite sounds like he's totally wrong. There's no way Google makes decisions about site quality based on the TLD; that's totally random and nonsensical.

I consistently use .info's to redirect to the merchant. Have not seen any drop compared with using .com or .net
Am yet to build up a proper site on .info but will be trying that soon. Cant see it being a problem. A site with good content is going to rank regardless of domain.

never had a problem with .info domain just think .com is the best & personally think converts better because some people do look at the domain name before clicking a link. I know I would trust a .com over .info domain any day guess just common sense to some people.

I agree with this. A .com will be more expensive, but it'll be worth it if you are planning to do a lot of volume.

However, the best way is to test yourself. See if a .info is giving you any conversions, then split test with a .com

Part of the problem is that most people think every domain starts with www. and ends with .com

Someone hits your .info LP while they are at work and wants whatever you are offering, but they see a form or something and decide to fill it out later when they get home. They don't write anything down and they don't bookmark shit so when they get home they are like, "what the fuck was the name of that site? www dot something dot com..."

And then the .com site takes your visitor.

Google gives more weight to a .com over anything else. That alone makes it worth it from the Quality Score aspect side of things

Total bullshit. This was believed to be true for a long time, but has since been proven wrong over and over and over and over again. I've got one .info domain that's less than a month old and it's quality score is through the roof. It's actually ranked number 1 for a couple moderately trafficked terms organically, and I have done ZERO SEO to it. Also, quality score is for PPC, not SEO, you're thinking of Trust Rank or Page Ranking.

Go back to Google and search for SEO blogs, then read them.
