Computer speakers needed

My current computer speakers decided to call it quits tonight randomly in the middle of playing music - No matter how I try to get sound into it (direct or aux inputs), it's busted, so it looks to be an audio input processing issue that I can't fix. That being said, I need a new 2.1 system with an aux input, bass control, and good bass response, ideally around the $100 or less range.

My dead speakers are Creative I-Trigue speakers, and they were awesome while they lasted, but the current version on NewEgg has mixed reviews, and someone else reporting that their older I-Trigues died randomly like mine did. I think I'll stay away from those, this time.

Ideally, something I could find at BestBuy to test out would be best, but I'd appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks!

Anything from Logitech if you're going to be connecting directly to your sound card.

I picked up a pair of these Harman Kardon Sounsticks. They sound great. Sure they look like big glass dildo's but they're pretty damn cool. The sub is good quality too. The bass is not overpowering and can be controlled easily.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see if I can find any of those in a store today so I can actually demo them before buying. I think I'll stick to a standard 2.1 computer speaker system rather than a studio monitor setup, since I'm looking for a smaller footprint on my desk.

I might just have to pick something that's available at BestBuy, since with CircuitCity and CompUSA no longer around, there's not exactly a large selection of stores that carry speakers that I can try out.

Head to speaker on amazon, you'll get the idea of what's are the top choices. That's what i do when choosing any equipments nowdays.

Still, Logitech has been the top brand for speaker for, since i started first typing....

I've got these, and all i can say is they're the best.

I haven’t heard computer speakers in this price range that sound even remotely good.

Everyone wants small sexy speakers. decent sound is an afterthought. Even twenty dollar bookshelf speakers from a garage sale can kick most of logitech’s offerings into high heaven.

People put studio monitors on speaker stands, not on their desk BTW.

The KRK speakers fatbat recommended are good. they cost $150 per speaker however, so that is three times your budget.

Tascam VL-A4’s are around $130 for the pair. They sound great for the price.
TASCAM VL-A4, any opinion? - Gearslutz.com

I ended up picking up the Z4s at Target - Surprisingly, they had a better selection on display than BestBuy. I would have gotten the Harmon Kardon SoundStick IIs that I tested at the Apple store, but that doesn't have an aux input (or a headphone jack) - Using a desktop and a laptop, the aux input is pretty important. Now to hook them up and see if they can match/beat what I remember my Creative system doing before they died.

The Logitech Z-4 speakers sound awesome, and the subwoofer is great. $90 after tax at Target. I could get it cheaper online, but I'm not willing to go a week speakerless to save $15.
