Got a local project going on and looking to partner up with an outfit that is obviously better staffed to cover a particular region. I'm getting ready to approach the president of this firm to initiate discussions, however I thought it might be a good idea to enter into such an agreement prior to doing so. No question that this group has the ability to take my plan and run with it on their own so there is a certain level of paranoia. Suggestions on protocol, recommended templates, lessons learned by anyone who has done this before?

I've got an attorney in my office who you could speak to that could draft up a confidentiality agreement for you so that there's no loopholes. PM me if you want his name and number. He could get one over to you quickly.

I would recommend one for sure.

Absolutely without a question use a non-disclosure. You can always sign an MSA after discussions have progressed.

I'll check with my local attorney to see if they offer "cyber law" services. I really should look into having someone at my disposal considering the direction I am going with this project.

@BlakeXplode - I'll PM you for your attorney info as an interim source if I can't find someone to handle it locally.
