I did a search but didn't see anything for this situation exactly.

We gotta site we'll be launching and I wanted some feedback on conversion/sale tracking for it.

The site is a decent sized multi-page site with 500+ products. The products will be from CJ & Linkshare, that sort of thing.

We would be interested in tracking the visitor from both organic traffic and paid traffic to the conversion of the sale.

This is a departure from what I'm used to tracking, thus I come to WF for help.

Save the dickrolls. :banana_sml:

Thanks!

I was thinking of using analytics to start with, but there are lots of merchants we are using, ill keep it in mind.... anyone else?

use the google

that said, tracking202 is the most commonly used ppc tracking software. you could also code a very simple solution to manually track subids from the page to the product (and distinguish paid traffic vs organic through a simple variable) or you can use conversion tracking within your paid traffic sources which will give you the data you need.

organic. analytics is fine and also has conversion tracking as mentioned by EnigmaBomb

Ya I use prosper for all my ppc tracking. I thought there might be a solution that does both organic and paid effectively. I swear I read about it one time.

Page to Page tracking will be important. We will probably use something like clicktale as well.

Anyone ever get someone at CJ or the merchant to give you the url for the thank you page? I think we'll try that.

I accept with information:tracking202 is the most commonly used ppc tracking software. you could also code a very simple solution to manually track subids from the page to the product and distinguish paid traffic vs organic through a simple variable.

If you're directing to CJ & Linkshare merchants, there's basically no chance of getting a confirmation pixel placed. You'll have to use a sub-id tracking method.

Wow this thread is full of ideas that won't work at all.
You have to use subids as johu said that's all you get son.

you can use prosper- you'll want to see if the merchant/network can pass the sale amount (commission amount) to you in the pixel fire, you could then relatively easily use this to update prosper instead of having to do this manually via the excel uploads.

I have to say the most important thing is first figure out what you WANT to track, personally for this I'd use prosper and then run clicktale on the front- and simply observe user behavior through clicktale and split test via the landing page rotation script through prosper.
