I currently make (low) $x,xxx a month from arcade sites - I have 4, they all rank for their varying keywords, and I'm in the process of launching 2 more right now. There's not a lot of money in this niche the way I've been handling it, but I set up those 4 sites when I was a newb, and have just held on to them since.

My goal is to grow a ton more of these sites, but first I want to see if anyone has ideas for how to make them more profitable. I've tried Smileycentral, the toolbar offer @ Neverblue and about a dozen other offers: AdSense performs better for sure. Most of the guys advertising in my AdSense seem to be selling their own subscription/spyware'd games, and I've gone in to that side of things a bit too with little success (this part, obviously just because i'm doing it wrong; that's fine), but it seems like a huge part of my AdSense blocks are just showing arbitrage sites; take arcade traffic, send it to another arcade site that has more advertising on it, and hope they click.

Now that I've given away my data: any ideas/recommendations for me?

p.s., AdSense performs REALLY well for me, but let's not worry about beating that too much, I just want to spark a discussion re: converting on traffic that has no real particular niche ("likes playing games" doesn't really identify the user?)...

1. check your demographic data @ alexa/compete/etc 2. promote CPA offers relevant to site niche by: - don't pollute site with banners.. keep them in obvious spots - try CPA offers that are known performers in your demographic - skew landing page like it looks like your site or is some special or requirement for your users (even try something like cpalead where they force users to complete incent offers through a gateway) - use javascript/ajax pop boxes/adultfriendfinder "chat" boxes - whatever you think would integrate most logically with your site 3. profit

Does each site have a specific type of game on it? That might help.

No. Not really. In fact, they're basically database sites.

conv3rsion, that was sorta my plan here. I figure I could build a huge list by adding a high score system or something and collecting emails on registration.

sgtryan, thanks, AJAX "chat"/other AJAX popup boxes sounds like a great idea.

how many uniques/month does your site get? what % of traffic is from US/UK/AU/CA? PM me with info. I can prolly do a buy there.

I have a casual games site (mostly an aggregator) and I am experimenting with MochiAds in-games ads, and the results are pretty good, I have built a player in which is embedded the games using some APIs, in this way I can deliver my chosen offer in the in-games way and trying to A/B split test between Mochi and my offers.
On the other side PPC has really low conversions with contextual ads (content is very poor on the pages and ads are quite random), but banners rock for me.
I have studied the heat maps of my pages and placing the right graphics on the right place is driving good CPA leads.

I've never dealt with arcade traffic, but what about going with something completely different than games, ringtones,etc...

Dating: "Is your thumb sore from playing video games or from jerking off too much?" Get laid tonight, Sign up dating offer here.

Diet: "Tired of being a fat slob playing video games all day?" Acai max will burn fat while you're playing tetris.

Etc...

Etc...

What script are you using?

I am still looking for something that can be adapted nicely and not too pricey.
