What do you guys think about cookie stuffing? Unethical, cool, lame?
I found an ebook with some techniques on cookie stuffing via forums. Sounds a bit lame and unfair, but I though could try it anyways. =P

Just wanted to ask your opinions and if you have ever tried and profited from it. :xomunch:

and the only way to actually make money cookie stuffing would be if you had an absolute crap ton of traffic.

Unethical for sure and the results are overrated...since your competitors will gladly hand your ass to the affected program/network and you'll get booted without payment.

It's not a way to generate long term income, it's a quick shot that may get you paid once or twice until you are booted, so I don't see how it makes sense. Greed is nice, but shooting your own leg for a few bucks more isn't worth it in my opinion.

I'd like to chip in (as author of cited article) that in my experience, CJ were better at detection - amazon just plain sucked ass.

As for "tons of traffic" - depends. Maybe untargetted traffic, but if you already have an e-com site, ebay converts really well. About 2,000 visitors cookie stuffed will get you about $100 a day.

I am still awaiting my magical ban after months and months of doing this.

In response to the stuff said here (I wrote the cited article).

1) CJ were better at detection than Amazon - who just plain sucked.

2) I've been doing this almost a year without being banned

3) Need tons of traffic? Not so, depends on the traffic source. Bung it on an e-commerce site and ebay will earn you about $100 a day from 2k visitors. I say that's pretty good.

4) It's highly unlikely a competitor will ever be able to "dob me in" as they can't see any dodgy code on my page unless they *really* dug, which they have no reason to.

Don't knock stuff till you try it!

Ok, so you have a more advanced method than the standard cookie stuffing. Congrats. I was referring to basic stuffing. And btw, I know people who have been banned from amazon. Several of them. EBay? Never. CJ doesn't monitor crap for their affiliates.

Hehe, I managed to get banned twice ages ago when I was first testing. I think it's a good move for ebay, but it will be interesting to see how they handle it. S'pose each to their own window of experience! :)
