I just found this on Andrew Wee's blog in the comments, but I can think of several ways that this could be awesome.

eBay Research Tools: Pricing, Seller Research, Hot Products. Learn More.

It's a nifty ebay research tool. You type in a search term, it'll show you the sell through rate, number of items listed, number sold, average price, lots of neat info.

Even if you don't sell on ebay it'd be nice for looking at the demand for certain products. It could also help out with auction ads campaigns.

I'd love to see an ebay keyword research tool. Something like overture for ebay. Anyone know if something like that exists?

So, here's a quick idea on how to make some cash via affiliate marketing and this tool. No, I haven't tried it. No I don't know if it works, so use at your own risk.

I went to the tool, and did a search for poker tables. In the past 7 days there where 1,124 listings. If we assume that 100 people looked at each listing, that's over 100k people interested in poker tables on ebay over the last 7 days.

So, do a little research on building a poker table. Get hooked up with a poker table materials affiliate program. Now write a how to guide on building a poker table, fill it up with your links, and sell that bitch on ebay for whatever you can get for it, I'd probably try to start out at .99 cents, maybe cheaper if there are similar guides. Maybe make them fill out an opt in form before they can download it, that way you can send them offers on poker chips, cards, online gambling, whatever every once in awhile.

Again, I haven't tried this. But you could do it with "brew your own beer", "build your own website", and a million other niches. This is the type of stuff, besides selling on ebay, that I got excited about when I found this thing.

eBay is a bit of a pain when the bidders complain about having to opt-in to lists.

So you need to do stuff like offer them some bonus and have them opt-in to get it.

There's a huge opportunity to buy on eBay US and sell on eBay UK where the exchange rate is higher.

There're a number of eBay Titanium or whatchamacallit Powersellers who do this, but I dunno...managing hundreds of auctions never really appealed to me...
