COPEAC: why no postback?

i realize you guys can place my callback pixel on each and every single merchant page, but seriously that's gotta be the most pain in the ass way to do it...??

headache 1: you must contact each and every single merchant to request pixel placement - i can't imagine the turnaround time on that to be terribly quick? AND, this would have to be done EVERY time for EVERY offer that i want... =(

headache 2: for security, i gotta find out where every merchants confirmation IP is coming from to authenticate them accordingly. Do the merchants want their machines revealed, extremely high PITA (pain in the ass) factor, murphys law, etc, etc..

why not do what most other networks do, have a centralized postback system: Merchant -> COPEAC -> Affiliate
eg.
- lead succesful, merchant notifies COPEAC (just 1 pixel is needed!)
- COPEAC servers then call all affiliate pixel/postbacks

benefits:
1. no need to bug merchants to add pixels - saves COPEAC and merchants time
2. you'd make my security nightmare go away, i need to just add COPEAC server IPS... not 50-100 merchant IPs
3. immediate feedback for successful leads means instant gratification to surfers, an obvious benefit

Until they do you can whip up a script that logs in to your account and pulls down your stats. It's not realtime but you can run it on a cron job every 5 minutes if you needed to. Most importantly, you could have it implemented in the next 30 minutes.

dsiomtw: you're right a custom polling solution is the best reasonable solution in this situation, but my question is... why have the situation to begin with? a centralized postback/reporting solution is win-win-win for merchant, network AND affiliate.

I love the self serve pixel system they have in place at firelead. If only every sponser took the initiative to offer something like that.
