Ladies and Gents,

Well I'm quite farked at the moment.

Laptop HD has fallen down big time, got it linked up to my work pc so I can try and recover my files.

Got the USB to IDE working well can and see the drive.

Just haven't found any decent free software to recover and transfer my files. Using Diskinternals NTFS recovery trial version, not sure if it will bring all the files over.

Has anyone got any tips on what data recover software to use?

i had a friend who had a hd crash and ended up freezing the sucker in the freezer for a few hours and having it boot up just long enough to restore 80% of the data. that of course being the last resort after exhausting all other options - as its final chance of hope....

Cheers for all the advice...

Ended up using PhotoRec a open source solution. Only problem is that all my files names are scrambled. Better than losing them I guess.

Had you used the OnForce solution, you'd be back to normal, but whatever.
