So my friend got an iPad and I played with it for about an hour today... and, well, I liked it. I've been very vocal about not liking Apple products in the past, but this is the first time I'd say I was definitely wrong. It's not really a replacement for my netbook (or G1), but it does serve its own purpose which I can't really categorize right now.

Anyway, there is one thing that's keeping me from going out any getting one right now. I looked for like 30 minutes and couldn't find a way to do this... Is there an app or regular mail configuration that will allow me to play a .wav or .mp3 when an email comes in and repeat it every X minutes until the email has been checked? If that's possible I'm getting one tomorrow. Maybe.

Not sure about the app but iPad does look promising. I am not sure where I would categorize other than convenience.

I saw Leo Laporte talking about how it's more in the category of a television than a computer, which I didn't understand when I heard it, but totally knew what he meant after playing with it.

On a side note, the "Numbers" app is what really sold me.

Oh hell yea Numbers is the shit. And Pages is awesome too

You're going to need an application with push notifications to keep alerting you until OS 4 comes out.

I bought one for my chick, and I have to say that I really enjoy it.

There's really nothing better for browsing the web while chillin on the couch or in bed. I'm really digging a few of the apps like SkyGrid (which tracks and links to developing news trends) and TheGuardian Eyewitness (which has beautiful full-screen photos of daily news events).

I also use cocktail and recipe apps like Epicurious all the time in the kitchen and really like reading PDF's and books on it.

Of course it has its drawbacks, but I'll probably buy a second or third generation one with a 4g connection for vacations and stuff.

I don't really *like* any apple product if I analyze its usefulness or compare it to what I can get for the same money, but once I try them they are usually fun to play around with. Kind if like small cute animals.

I'll buy it when there is a proper OS in it, so I can take a shit while watching Debby Does Dallas.

I plan on buying one as soon as they are released down under. I've always liked the products Apple launches but have yet to make the switch from PC to Mac.

The US get the 3G version on the 7th of May and we have to wait till the 10th May before we can pre order.
But I'm not sure that includes the 3G version which I want
