So I recieved an email today from a guy offering me targetted traffic in my niche, credit cards.

Hi. I own quite a few domains that generate lots of type-in traffic,
particularly traffic related to credit cards. I have been sending
the traffic to companies like DomainSponsor, Sedo and TrafficZ
(Parking Companies), and generating quite a bit of
income. Advertisers, like you, are buying traffic from Yahoo and
Google (Search Companies), the companies that DomainSponsor, Sedo and
TrafficZ use to obtain advertisers. This means that between the
traffic buyer (you) and the traffic seller (me), there are two
middlemen, the Parking Companies and the Search Companies. How would
you like to cut out these middlemen and buy highly targeted traffic
directly from me?

In order to show you how mutually beneficial this could be, I am
willing to GIVE you approximately 500 unique visitors to your website
for one day (no charge). You will be able to see how much extra this
earns you and get an idea of just how well this can work. I am
intentionally keeping this email short, but I would be glad to
discuss this further if you have questions. You can email me or you
can call me at ***-***-**** at my office (9 to 5 PST).

You are not the only credit card website that I will be contacting
today. However, to keep things simple, I will probably work a deal
with only one firm. So, if the logic of my offer is apparent to you,
then please contact me at your earliest convenience. Once I find a
good website for this targeted traffic, I will probably just work
with them exclusively.

Regards,
***** ******

I understand the concept of cutting out the middle man, and can see how it would be a good move.

This guy contacted me out of the blue though, and I am skeptical that it might be a scam. Is it even possible to get usable traffic from the domain landing pages type sites? I contacted him and said I would be interested in the trial.

Anyway, was curious what you guys thought about this.

Typically a smaller test run is done in these situations. Then if it's working for everyone, you move to a larger deal.

Only way to find out is to try it, but don't risk more then you're willing to lose if someone contacts you out of the blue like that.

Traffic coming from domain parking pages is known to be converted at a higher rate than those from search engines pages etc.

I personally have a decent size portfolio of names and I know quite a few advertisers have great ROI as they found me through parking company :)
