What does a typical day look like for you guys? I imagine it's pretty fast paced with lots of spreadsheet action...

depending on what time of month it is...right now its the beginning so i have to run reports for last month. then next week i have to get everything together to pay our affiliates. then towards the end its planning promotions and offers for the next month. and of course answering emails and talking like crazy on MSN with the affiliates themselves. its a lot of hurry up and wait...im slammed and then im not busy...vicious cycle.

I'm finding more and more that my lack of orgainization skills is a serious hindrance.

Sending a ton of emails, getting new private offers from requests , lots of AIM and Yahoo chatting. A ton of organization because without that I would be horrible at my job.

It's pretty nuts and at all hours of the day! I need 2 monitors just for instant messages convo's. Try having 750 affiliates to manage with a backend that doesn't give any performance data...new interface coming this month though!

Sounds intense...what kind of background do you guys have? Management/sales?

Geofferson doesn't do any work, he's lying!

I'd imagine most AM's spend their days hyping up offers that make them better commissions and running the usual "you know.. our offers do convert the highest and we were ranked #1 by some other site we own, because no one else was rated!"

I know there are at LEAST 100 AM's that lurk here because they aren't allowed to post lol. Suckers!

Lol. What I want to know is, why don't these people become affiliates? It's like SEO Firms who don't make money with affiliate marketing. Retarded, that's what that is.

wake up, free base some crack, check IMs, get paychecks and check bank accounts, put on my glasses with big dollar signs on them

Because they can't. Or because providing a service makes them more money. Some SEO firms really rape their clients, especially if their clients don't understand or know what SEO is (aka people in the 'real' world).

I disagree. It provides more stability. If a 200k/ year account tanks, you still can have stability so long as you work your ass off to fix it. These guys are dumping tens of thousands of dollars into some of these sites in link buys alone.
That's a lot of capital to risk for someone with a family.
Beyond that, if they want to follow something that at least looks natural, building these sites up is slow. Sometimes you can't wait 6 months for that paycheck to start coming in. Especially with Google fluctuating and banning like they are.

That said, I myself prefer the affiliate model...low expenses, only accountable to me, and no worries over bans. Good deal.

I agree with what you're sayin'.

...and I do know of 1 or 2 so called "SEO" scammers because I worked for 1 for a couple weeks. He didn't even know what affiliate marketing was! Suffice to say, I don't work with them anymore.

Not knowing affiliate marketing does not mean they do not know SEO

Sorry, but that is fucking retarded. If you could "SEO" a site to rank #1 for "web hosting reviews" or something, how in the fuck would you not know that you are sitting on lots of money?

Is it just me who feels this way? Or are people really that fucking retarded. Affiliate Marketing is not some big super secret.
