Okay,

So i've ended up having to move from my comfortable shared space in a colleagues building (the bastards ended up becoming successful and expanding and needed my space) and have shifted into a private serviced office in Auckland. The place is fine and runs at around 12 square meters so its big enough to fit my needs and is a fine place to meet with clients.

Unfortunately, its an internal office and the only windows face the corridor and not outside. So this means, only fluro light and no natural light. So the damn thing is driving me nuts. At the moment its fairly sterile with my desk/computers/filing cabinets etc.

So i'm open to ideas as to how to furnish/decorate this space in such a way that it doesnt feel like a bloody dungeon with no outside light.

Anyone...bueller...bueller ?

Furnish it with what makes you comfortable. If you feel comfortable in your environment, you will more than likely be more productive.

Get some sunlight therapy lamps.

Try a big digital photo frame. You can have a "window" on your wall with a view of whatever you want. I have an 8" frame on my desk, but they come bigger and a 19-20" frame is definitely affordable.

Fuck me thats an awesome space...thats my next move :)

LOL...thanks for the suggestions those sunlight lamps look great...i've found that i can get a similar thing with soft lighting fluro's so might try that as well.

Its fine for a little while...might end up moving in a bit if I can find somewhere a bit better.

Cheers

Speaking of limited budget did you consider finding space with windows but in a cheaper town area for similar price?
That big office someone posted looks great, but it has windows :D And too big for one person, at least me I would not feel very good in such a huge space.

Maybe that's because you're a peasent and not a German dictator?

It wasnt so much limited buget...but mroe of a case of Auckland basically shuts down from Dec15 until Jan 15th so I needed to find somewhere quick and trying to get a lease over that period is tough here.

Luckily this place is month by month so I can walk at any time once I find somewhere better.

You want an office like that?

Step 1: Invade Poland.

In all seriousness, move asap. You need a decent environment if you're going to work long hours and remain mentally sharp. It doesn't need to be particularly spacious, just well laid out with good natural light. My home office is about 8 square meters, but it has great natural lighting and views, and enough room for shelves, a decent desk and a whiteboard, which is all I need.

Live plants do wonders man. If you can't have a window at least surround yourself with greenery. Get a Veralux bulb for your light, its the closest to natural sunlight you can get. Your eyes will thank you.
