I've been trying to get my hands on a good netbook for a while now, and this looks like an awesome fuckin' deal. I'm pissed I missed out on the $169 Acer on Woot the other day, then I see this beauty of a deal today:

Dell - Mini Netbook Computer Deals

Dell usually makes good shit, but has anyone had long-term experience with this little guy? At $200 it seems worth it either way.

4 GIG hard drive, fuck that pay the extra $100 for the next one up. Or drop $75 on the 16 GIG solid state.

That is without question, but I think you can get them for cheaper on NewEgg, assuming it's even possible. I haven't looked into it much for the Dell Minis.

Although, to be totally honest, I can't imagine it being all that much of a problem, only having 4 gigs. How much space does the average Ubuntu install use? I'd only be running Open Office, FF or Opera, and music/video; and I have no shortage of USB devices to load media on to.

So has anyone used one?

Only if you're a midget on a budget.

This is me with all the money I'm gonna save on this good deal.

This netbook is great if you want to convert it into a Hackintosh running OSX.

yeah Rage9 is right, that 4 gig HD will fill up in a day.

that's just beat the purpose of a netbook...you are suppose to run everything with web application and not storing stuff in the HD. but slowly netbook became just a smaller laptop

POS don't waste your money - spend the extra $100 and get the Asus EEE or an acer...

Bigger screen, more RAM, 20x bigger HD, double the proc speed and XP standard

this..

they make solid netbooks for real

Considering nearly every (if not every) Asus netbook is an Asus EEE what are you looking at because I'm see all Asus netbooks are basically the same stats as the Dell I was talking about. Are you thinking of Acer? They have a few netbooks with more memory.

I've had good luck with Dells, but I don't like that machine - I borrowed one for 3 days for my wife to test out - bad screen, bad keyboard, no storage, not very fast. I got the HP DV2 instead, but it cost twice as much and is really an ultralight not a netbook.

I don't have any experience with netbooks, but I might be picking one up this month. The 10V with the 802.11g/n + 16GB SSD + Ubutnu + 6 cell battery for $365 seems to make a lot more sense.
