The last season the Red Wings didn't make the playoffs was 1989-90. I'm not a big hockey fan but holy fuck that is some crazy shit. I was a freshman in high school back then and now I have a daughter that's a freshman in high school and they just keep rolling along. In light of their recent sweep I figured they deserved some props for raping the NHL on such a consistent basis.

holla! I was at the game last night, freaking awesome. I'll give the coyotes fans props, they did stick around and cheered on their team for what is *likely* the last game in phoenix. Hope not though, or else I'll be traveling to LA to see my Wings and...well...we know what happens there if you're a rival fan.

The Wings are one of the best run franchises in sports, right up there with the Yankees, Lakers and Patriots.

Meanwhile Vancouver is executing one of the poorest displays of playoff hockey ever and will most likely blow their 3-0 lead and lose the series if they continue to play like they have. The last 2 games have been absolutely shocking.

It was sad to see the game last night man. Very sad.

My only complaint with Detroit is their age. Once Lindstrom retires Rafalski will be gone soon after, which leaves quite a big hole in their blueline. At the same time frees up a ton of cap space, though.

It could be worse - us Leafs fans have to put up with shockingly poor play for 82 games every year...
The key is keeping our prospects and picks. Every year we find a way to trade away from our future to "win now". Things are looking better with the Frattin signing and Kadri growing up.

god, lidstrom has been around forever.

Montreal Canadians = 24 Stanley Cups.

Now that is insane... Winning over 25% of Stanley Cup Finals ever played.

But the Wings do kick ass.

yeah, those were the good old days, but unfortunately today Montreal can't afford to keep their good players for some reason. Seriously, Montreal has always been a producer of great players, but they never stay.

True that.. Now for the short term, let's just hope they get back on track so they can kick Boston's asses

It is odd that Montreal can't keep them but Detroit just seems to hold onto them non stop. Look at Zetterberg, datsyuk, lidstrom and all their other players. I think their continual success is due to the chemistry that their team promotes. Players want to play in a great place.

Not saying Montreal is better than Detroit, but I think the way the Canadians handle things sometimes is just garbage, and no one forgets about how they treated Roy.

I had tickets to game 5 against Phoenix but they wrapped it up early. I am hoping to catch a game next round though.

Props for the 20+ year run without a playoff miss.
