Did Facebook Home just open the door to a new marketing outlet?

It's an interesting concept, and might only be achievable by companies that have a large number of memberships. But if Home makes its way to the mainstream and people get used to interactive phone themes, will this blow the door wide open for a new marketing outlet, not forgetting Facebook's own ad program?

My initial reaction was to rage against this product, so I thought I'd try it out. Read the review and decide for yourselves.

TL;DR:

- Available for Android only (as of this writing).
- Themes your phone with Facebook functions, new design, and a live photo stream as your background (active and locked screen) of your friends / fan pages.
- Endorses Messenger as a text-message option and quick-menu item.
- Interact (comment or like) with photo stream from Home display.
- Does not show ads yet.

i won't be surprised if FB launches their very own App store on this phone. They will also use instagram heavily for the home screen.

So this is why they bought Instagram for a billion... Home needs to be adopted by the masses and I still haven't seen anyone that wants or cares about it. Iphone's still reign.

lame, not available for galaxy nexus. looks like it's not compatible with quite a few android devices.

As a whole Facebook home is meh that being said though the chatheads messaging system is the greatest messaging implementation I have ever seen. Seriously try it.

It makes messaging so much easier to jump out of and back into.

Yah, you beat me to it.

Should work fine regardless of type of Android device atm.

The more I think about it though, this is just a glorified wallpaper app and I'm curious to see how much battery life it drains. I woke up this morning with a facebook photo of a dog as my background. I don't care enough about my Facebook usage to start flipping through status updates from my locked screen.

Yeah personally id like if facebook home just replaced my lock screen and left the rest of my phone alone.

haven't read anything other than a headline on Facebook home, isn't this something that would really kill your battery?

Facebook isnt dead yet, they are working on their local search, will be big for local biz.
