Hi all. I got an email asking for me to write a 1050 word piece. Along with the specifications, I was asked, "Are you able to provide me with a sample so I can check with my business partner if he thinks your style of writing is suitable for our needs?" Then I realized this 1050 word article was supposed to be the sample, and I'm not comfortable writing such a long piece without the understanding that I'm going to get paid.
I replied back letting the guy know about my bulk discount (that you can find in my thread in my signature) and the following: "I cannot do such a long piece of work without being sure that I'm going to get paid, but I understand the need to make sure that my work is what you're looking for. Would a shorter writing sample of about 300-400 words suffice for your needs?"
Am I being unreasonable over ~$30, or did I handle this correctly? The guy in question didn't mention a WF screen name, so I couldn't check out his iTrader, etc. Thanks, and here are the boobies.
