Well to answer your question is Digg a good idea, then it absolutely is. In order for it to have any real impact on your site you're gonna need to hit the front page though, which takes a lot of time and effort.
If you want to know more about how to work your way towards there, PM me, I've been on Digg a while and have hit the FP many times.

If you don't have the time to get a decent follower-base on digg that'll +1 most of your posts, you could always consider hiring a couple of paid digg services for a few of your posts. Hopefully that'll get you some exposure and from there you can build a follower base.

Sadly, the number of diggs required to hit the front page keeps going up thanks to this kind of stuff, but what can you do...
