I recently threw up a site on a direct match domain and did some basic seo. To my understanding this site should rank decently based on the domain alone. I have optimized the site for this kw. I havent done much backlinking yet. It has already been indexed on google, i know this from searching it as [site:Google.com keyword ] (example). Please let me know if I'm completely wrong to think this. Competition is fairly low, monthly searches are just under 3,000.

It should rank Page 2, position 6.

Do more backlinking, don't waste too much time checking rankings, and do more backlinking.

Really? I'm pretty sure with the new formula it would be Page 2, position 2.

thanks for the responses. I'm still confused though, don't hate. Shouldn't my site rank well simply because its a direct match domain? wouldnt it have priority over other sites that are ranking for that kw?

It's one of many factors that will help it rank, but no it won't give you priority over sites that don't have they keyword in the url. Build backlinks.

You will see it said many times across WF - do not look at the field - look at the champs. Looking at the sites that are on the first page -authority, backlinks, etc - that will give you an idea of what you need to do to rank.

With exact match domains I've ranked anywhere from page 1-4 right off the bat. Do some backlinking and in a month you should see upward movement.
