Due to my pains with them, I have determined that TimeWarner Cable Sucks and I have decided to go with DSL for now at home which means I need to determine which satellite service is better. I had DirecTV in the past and I don't recall too many mishaps but AT&T appears to sell some sort bundled deal with phone/DSL/Satellite (I still need my landline for my alarm monitoring).

Have a kid dude! Your TV time gets so sucked up that you'll find yourself with only the $25 basic cable package because SpongeBob SqaurePants is the only thing that ever hits the television.

When I was single, I had digital cable and paid $150/month for literally everything.
Now I have a 50" plasma TV that only sees SpongeBob!

it's not a chip anymore, it's a receiver that you upload a bin file to
check out F2ATV.com
only problem is that it's a cat and mouse game - DN makes changes every so often, making the bin file not work, then programmers come back with a new bin file to fix it again.

DirecTV. I have been happy with them for 10+ years.

The guy I bought the house from had it and he left the dish behind - I thought those unscrambled chips were a thing of the past.

New DirecTV cards haven't been cracked for years. You can still "hack" Dish Network as well as Bell ExpressVu and Star Choice from Canada.

Somehow I'm not so sure either one of these companies will exist in a few years. It's all going to get beamed through the internets using a series of pipes.

I highly doubt that they are going away any time soon. Millions of people in the United States still can't even get Cable or DSL internet in their homes.

I've had Direct TV for 5 or 6 years now and have been totally happy with it. Our only cable option here is comcrap and fuck that.

AT&T is lighting up a new Uverse VRAD three houses from me in September though, so I'm gonna give that a go and see how it is. It will have to be pretty fucking awesome to make me give up my DTV though.
