Disk space on server

OK, so i got an email this morning saying my account is over its size limit (no problem really, i could just increase the max size) but i thought i would take a look at what is going on.

Here's what i get....

How can i have used almost 2GB when the largest file is apparently 42.2MB?!

I've tried searching through all the directories, but i can't work out how i've used so much. It was at 1.2GB the other day, now its shot up.

Any ideas?

You can track it down by going to the root of your server ( cd / ) and typing ( du -sh */ ) and following the path of the largest directory. Also if you have directories writable by apache, check for hidden directories with " ls -la .*/ "
