Disney buys Star Wars maker Lucasfilm from George Lucas

$4 Billion - that plus his social security check each month should be enough for George to retire on

Without Lucas the next Star Wars movie may actually be good.

Wow, there goes one of the very last private big-time studios. Disney bought out most everyone else already.

Episodes 7-9 coming soon boys! I've only been waiting for them since Return of the Jedi was in the theatres the first time...

And we all know what we will see, or?

Yeah the loss of a big private studio is my only regret, despite Lucas sucking really bad lately. Disney hasn't been that terrific lately either, but they do have their moments. I am fairly optimistic about the next 3 Star Wars films. They can only go up from here on out.

There are already like 8 billion different Star Wars offshoots including Family Guy and Robot Chicken in the animated circle I don't see how Star Wars Mickey would be much different (albeit less funny.)

At first I was like, well Disney is going to drowned it down it to a family friendly franchise until I remembered... it already is!

You'd think movies about dudes with light swords and space battles would be a bit more graphic but they really are pretty tame and family oriented in the first place. So it actually makes sense that Disney takes it over.

Sure Disney puts out a shitty movie once and a while but who doesn't? As Episode 1 showed (and it was pretty much a pile of shit) that if they aren't that good they'll still make a killing.

I guess that means all new Luke Skywalker but I guess after the last 3 bring it on!

Well, one guy here already mentioned our all hope - what was the best SW movie?
Right, the empire one - the one not directed by Lucas.

The second one was the movie starting the cult.
Lucas was the one starting Jar Jar Binks.

We love him starting it all - but his strength are ideas and bring them alive,
not to do them.

Thankfully he had no coding skills...

Lot of people are flipping out about this, but star wars has been so bad for so long I can't imagine disney having creative control being anything other than an improvement.
